Choose an eco-friendly transportation option!

Significantly reduce your carbon footprint.

  • 45% of global automotive CO2 emissions are produced by cars driven in the United States.
  • 50% of greenhouse gases emitted in the greater San Francisco Bay Area are from transportation.
  • One pound of CO2 is emitted into the air for every mile driven (on average).

To find out more about cars’ impact on Climate Change go to the Environmental Defense web site.

Save money.

  • On average, a car costs $3,400 a year to fill with gasoline (assuming the vehicle is driven 15,000 miles per year and gets 20 miles per gallon).
  • Vehicle maintenance, repair and insurance can cost up to $2,200 per year.

Improve your health.

  • Bicycling and walking burn calories and exercise your heart and muscles.
  • Taking the bus, bicycling and walking eliminate the stress of driving alone.

Over 110,000 vehicles travel on Highway One between Watsonville and Santa Cruz – this is one of the busiest stretches of road in the county. By choosing an alternative to driving alone to and from Cabrillo you can make a difference in reducing traffic congestion and greenhouse gases.

  • Cabrillo College is working in collaboration with community partners to support sustainable transportation for students, faculty and staff. Together we can begin to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions by using the bus, carpooling, bicycling and walking more often. By using free or low cost “green” transportation we can reduce the number of solo driving trips.

Please join us in making Cabrillo College more environmentally-friendly and GO GREEN.

The Go Green campaign and this website is funded by
Santa Cruz County Regional Transportation Commission, the Monterey Bay Unified Air Pollution Control District and a federal Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality grant. Produced by Ecology Action in partnership with Cabrillo College.
